The configurator guides you step by step through the entire build, and the system automatically keeps an eye on whether the components you choose actually work together. This helps you avoid bottlenecks and end up with a configuration that is both error-free and reliable.
You decide whether you want to assemble the PC yourself, or whether our technicians should do it for you - you simply choose this in the configurator. If you choose to have it assembled by us, we test it thoroughly before it is shipped, so it is ready to use the moment you unpack it. This is also the solution we recommend, as your warranty remains fully intact when we handle the assembly.

For example, if you need to run demanding games on a tight budget, it is primarily the GPU and CPU that determine the experience. Expensive power supplies and SSDs mainly affect how quickly the game loads at startup - not the actual in-game performance. Expect somewhere between 1 and 4 hours, depending on how complicated the build is, how many components are included and how experienced you already are. An experienced builder will naturally be faster than someone building their first PC and following a guide step by step along the way. If time is short, or if you are unsure about the process, you can always let our technicians handle the assembly - then the PC is ready to use as soon as you receive it.
A solid desktop PC rests on four pillars: a powerful CPU, sufficient RAM - we recommend 16 GB as a starting point - a fast SSD and a reliable graphics card. Together, they ensure that the PC can handle several different tasks without struggling.

If you want a proper build-your-own gaming PC, you should aim for a high-end CPU, at least 16 GB RAM and a powerful graphics card with high VRAM capacity. It is the combination that lets you run the latest titles at high settings without dropping in FPS.
Do not forget cooling and the power supply either - both are put under pressure when the PC works intensively over longer periods, because this both requires energy and generates heat. With the right components from PC-Lager, you get a stable experience even under heavy load.
An office PC that you build yourself does not need the same raw power as a gaming machine - but an efficient CPU is still important. We recommend at least 8 GB RAM and a fast SSD, so multitasking and data access feel smooth in everyday use.
The choice mostly depends on what you need the PC for and what you prefer yourself. Windows most often wins when it comes to broad software compatibility and a user interface most people know - making it a natural choice for both gaming and general use.
Linux appeals to those who prioritize stability, security and a high degree of customization - typically developers or others with specific technical needs. If you do not have a concrete purpose such as development or server operation, we generally recommend Windows.
The case is the frame around everything - the box that all your components sit in - and it also helps define how the PC looks. Size varies greatly, and the form factor is the most important thing to keep track of. If you want a quieter PC, sound-insulated cases are available, and if you want a more striking look, you can choose cases with built-in RGB lighting.
Regardless of which case you choose, it must match the form factor of your motherboard - the two components simply need to fit together.

The motherboard connects all your components and is therefore a central part of the PC, even though it is rarely the component people talk about the most. It must match the case form factor exactly - and it is often also where there is the most money to save if the budget is tight.
Always make sure the motherboard fits the selected case. If you use our configurator, compatibility is checked automatically, so you avoid both bottlenecks and practical issues when the PC is assembled.
RAM acts as the PC's short-term memory and determines how many programs it can handle at the same time. The more RAM, the better the multitasking - and especially demanding tasks such as video editing and gaming benefit from extra memory. Today, most recommendations are in the range of 16-64 GB, as games, operating systems and programs have become more demanding.
How to find the right RAM:
In addition to the amount itself, you also need to know the RAM type and form factor - the socket. This can seem confusing if you are not very technical, but if you use our configurator, it only shows options that are actually compatible with the rest of your build.

For lighter office tasks, browsing and general study use, 8 GB is fine. If you need to run demanding games or heavy programs, however, you will quickly fall short. It can work as a beginner gaming setup, but be prepared for performance that may disappoint - luckily, you can always upgrade the RAM later.
For most ordinary study tasks - documents, presentations and research - 8 GB RAM is usually sufficient. If you run several heavy programs at the same time, however, it may become strained. This especially applies to students in design, software development and programming, where the work tools themselves place higher demands on the computer.
16 GB RAM is a solid starting point for gaming, video editing and heavier multitasking - and it is also the standard in most gaming PCs today. If you want a well-balanced PC without blowing your budget, this is often the right choice.
32 GB RAM becomes relevant when tasks get truly heavy - such as 3D rendering or advanced data processing. The most powerful gaming PCs often run with this exact amount.
If you work in a program such as AutoCAD, 32 GB is a sensible choice, as it provides room to handle large files without problems. If your projects are particularly large or complex, it may still make sense to go even higher.
64 GB RAM is primarily aimed at gamers who want the absolute best, as well as professionals working in the most demanding programs.
Windows 11 can technically run on 4 GB RAM, but 8 GB is recommended for a smooth experience. If you run heavy programs or several things at once, you should expect to need even more.
At its core, it is about speed versus space. An SSD is significantly faster and boosts the overall system performance - perfect for the operating system and programs. An HDD is cheaper per GB and suitable when you primarily need space for data.
128 GB covers a very basic need - operating system plus a few programs - but it fills up quickly, especially if you also store documents, download games or install more programs along the way.
For most people with ordinary needs, 256 GB is a sensible balance - there is room for the operating system, smaller programs and a reasonable amount of data.
If you work with large files, play many games or need space for larger amounts of data, 512 GB is a good choice. Most gaming PCs today come with at least this size - and if you want to future-proof your purchase, it is worth considering even more.
1 TB has become the standard size in gaming PCs. It provides room for most game libraries, and if you choose SSD, you also get fast startup times. If space becomes too limited one day, there is usually room to add another SSD later.
It depends on what you need the PC for. For everyday tasks, a CPU such as Intel i5 or Ryzen 5 works fine. If the PC needs to handle gaming, video editing or 3D rendering, you should look toward Intel i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen 7/9. If the purpose is heavy professional work, a dedicated workstation CPU is the right choice.
A newer Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 is a solid choice for gaming at high settings - especially combined with a powerful graphics card, if you want to avoid any kind of performance issues along the way.
Intel i3/i5 or Ryzen 5 is plenty for ordinary office work, while i7 or Ryzen 7 provides more headroom for heavier tasks. What is “enough” depends heavily on the nature of the work - some only need to handle documents and internet-based data, while others require significantly more processing power.
If the PC is going to function as a workstation, Intel Xeon or AMD Threadripper is the recommendation for handling heavy tasks such as 3D rendering. At PC-Lager, you can choose these extremely powerful CPUs, which are suitable for demanding programs such as AutoCAD.
The best CPUs for this type of work can be found under the category “server processors”, where you get a complete overview of which processors can handle the task. Programs such as AutoCAD typically use only one or two cores, but in return place high demands on clock speed - something these processors are strong at.
A good cooler keeps temperatures down and prevents overheating - especially important for intensive use such as gaming or video editing. Air cooling is the simple and affordable solution, while liquid cooling provides better heat dissipation and is the first choice if you want to overclock or are building a high-performance PC.

The graphics card plays a crucial role - both in a gaming PC and in a workstation, where heavy graphics tasks require power. It is the GPU that, together with the other components, ensures that graphics and animations are displayed in high quality.
In PC-Lager's configurator, you choose exactly the GPU your project requires - regardless of whether the PC is primarily for gaming or for demanding programs such as AutoCAD.
Focus on the amount of VRAM and the technology when choosing a graphics card for gaming. Nvidia's RTX series is often the safe choice and provides a strong gaming experience, while AMD's Radeon series is a solid alternative.
If you are on a tight budget, an AMD Radeon or Nvidia GTX card will do fine - although you may run into challenges at the very highest graphics settings if the card is older.
If you work with large amounts of data or 3D models in AutoCAD, a solid GPU is important. If the tasks are less demanding, a cheaper graphics card will do fine - it is primarily when working with 3D models that the most powerful cards really come into play.
If the graphics card is primarily for AutoCAD, Nvidia's RTX A series - for example A2000 and A4000 - is a natural choice.
4-6 GB VRAM is enough for gaming and general tasks. If you run high resolution or heavier graphics work, however, you should aim for at least 8 GB to keep performance optimal.
FPS - the number of frames per second - determines how smooth the experience feels. For ordinary work and video playback, 60 FPS is usually enough. If you are playing graphically demanding titles, however, you should aim higher for a smooth and responsive experience.
Remember, though, that your monitor's Hz rating sets a hard limit. If your components can actually deliver 144 FPS, but the monitor only refreshes at 60 Hz, you will never see more than 60 FPS on the screen.

It used to be the standard for most games, but today it feels relatively low - and mainly makes sense for less demanding titles such as Minecraft, where it still feels smooth and comfortable.
Yes, it is a good level for fast esports titles such as CS and Fortnite.
It is more than most people need - but it makes sense for serious gamers with monitors that support 360 Hz.
If you want to go all the way to the top, it requires a 540 Hz monitor that can keep up with up to 540 FPS. However, this is a level almost exclusively used by professional players - for most others, it is far more than they actually need.
In titles such as Fortnite and CS, 144+ FPS provides the best combination of reaction time and gaming experience - and at a professional level, up to 540 FPS has become common. Even in World of Warcraft, 144 FPS has become more widespread as more players are used to monitors with at least 144 Hz, which today has almost become the standard.
Your achievable FPS depends on both the PC's performance and the monitor's Hz rating - and you can never exceed the monitor's limit. Therefore, aim for at least a 144 Hz monitor, which you can also find in our range at PC-Lager.
Bottlenecking occurs when one component - typically the CPU, GPU or RAM - limits what the rest of the system can perform. A powerful graphics card can, for example, be held back by a weak CPU, which affects the overall experience. If you use PC-Lager's configurator, you avoid exactly that trap.
